WEIGHT LOSS STORY: MAN GOES FROM 107 KGS TO 96 KGS IN A MONTH - HERE’S HOW

Losing weight is never a cakewalk. There are times when you succeed in losing weight but you end up regaining it due to a sedentary lifestyle, stress, eating habits and other factors. It is often demotivating that all the efforts went in vain. However, when there is a will, there is a way. We came across Vivek Chandani, 31, who lost weight three times in the past and is now on his fourth weight loss journey. Starting his fourth weight loss journey on April 1, 2024, Vivek weighed 107.5 kgs and has come down to 96 kgs losing 11 kgs in a month.

“My weight loss journey overall would be a 15-year-long journey wherein I have transformed my physique using different methods each time. There have been four instances where I have lost a remarkable amount of weight and each time I have known my body better in terms of how it reacts to various stimulants be it diet, exercise or rest. I feel that if one understands how to identify their food in terms of calorie breakdown and macros, they have won half the battle. Understanding the circadian rhythm of the body and autophagy too helped me evolve my understanding of body transformation.”

Inspiration can boost the weight loss journey by manifold. When asked what inspired him to embark on this journey he said, “When I was 17, it was an action movie “Never back down.” When I was 23, it was the peers around me which turned me competitive. When I was 28, getting married was my motivation to lose weight, and currently, I am undergoing my 4th transformation where I started off at 107.5 kgs and aim to achieve 80 kgs.”

During his previous transformations, Vivek lost around 30 kgs in 6-7 months. But as we all know there are pros and cons of being dedicated to just one thing, let's see what challenges Vivek came across during his weight loss journey.

Biggest Challenges You Faced During Weight Loss Transformation And How Did You Stay Motivated?

“Maintaining a social life on weekends with food and booze around was one of the biggest challenges I faced. Further, the first ten days are the worst when you set out on a weight loss journey as it involves a lot of changes in your lifestyle. But I focused on completing 1 week of disciplined eating and then used it as a motivation to complete the entire journey.”

Diet And Exercise Regime During Weight Loss Transformation

Vivek says it is essential to understand the correct method of fasting and turning on autophagy in your body. He changed his diet and followed a well-balanced meal with protein, the right amount of carbs, fats and fibre. He used to exercise for 1.5 hours everyday in the morning. “I used to do different types of exercises including gym, badminton, swimming, going for long jogs etc.

Even after making so many changes in his daily routine, there were days when the weight wouldn’t drop for weeks, says Vivek. “There are a few plateaus I reach every month wherein the weight wouldn’t drop for weeks. The idea is to shock your muscles by performing HIIT workouts and increasing calorie intake for a week,” he said.

Piece Of Advice For Others Who Are Looking To Embark On A Similar Transformation Journey

"If you find it hard to motivate yourself, try weighing in on yourself everyday as soon as you wake up and mark it in a diary. A slight decrease in weight will motivate you and an increase in weight will alarm you to change what's wrong in your regimen," Vivek said.

“Since the day I started my weight loss journey, I have ended up learning a lot about the human body. It has made me more disciplined and patient,” said Vivek.
