KARISMA KAPOOR RECALLS HOW SRIDEVI INSPIRED HER JOURNEY

Karisma Kapoor acknowledged the late Sridevi as a profound influence on her style. She noted, "We were generally inspired by Western trends, old actor stories, and especially Sri ji (Sridevi)." Karisma admired Sridevi’s versatility and ability to evolve with the times, recalling how her performances in films such as ‘Sadma,’ ‘ChaalBaaz,’ and ‘Lamhe’ had a significant impact on her from a young age, shaping her approach to both fashion and acting.

Karisma Kapoor also reflected on the profound influence of the 1997 film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ on her career trajectory. Describing it as a pivotal turning point, she emphasized its distinctive narrative, wherein her character, Jazz, a mainstream actress, deviates from the conventional trope of ending up with the hero. "It was iconic. Jazz, athleisure, a mainstream actress not getting the hero, it was a turning point," she remarked, acknowledging the film's significance in her professional journey.

Her involvement in the film extended beyond acting to deeply engaging in the wardrobe choices for her character, Nisha. Collaborating closely with renowned designer Manish Malhotra, Karisma was meticulous about every detail of her look, down to the shoes she wore, even if they weren’t visible on screen. "I wanted to know because it changes her gait, the vibe, the way she’s going to sit and be," she explained, underscoring the importance of authenticity in her portrayal.
